OASE

OASE, winning entry of the the conceptual design competion “Humane mental care in a closed environment”, proposes a ‘rural building in een urban setting’. A generous sanctuary where city and institution carefully befenit from each other and where residents can enjoy a differentiated level of privacy and liberty within the closed frames of the institution. A compact three-dimensional circuit of spaces, each with their own character. An open ‘urban’ network where connections between individual, group and community can always be made in various ways and where the inhabitants living space is enlarged both in the literal and figurative sense.
