Almere Orchard
Rural experiment
Almere Orchard is a green and rural neighborhood with exceptional dwellings. The sixteen blocks are located in such a way that all gardens border on a large common space, The Orchard. Cars are parked close to the dwellings, at the neighborhood’s edge.
The project is part of a revolutionary experiment by the municipality of Almere to allow future residents more involvement in the design of their house and its surroundings. Developers, designers and future residents work together on the schemes for the various neighborhoods. Every neighborhood has its own look and feel, depending on the resident’s wishes and lifestyles.
