De Vallei Tilburg
Located in the ‘Donge Valley’, an ecological corridor, “De Vallei” is a compact, clever and efficient retail and residential building, with no closed backsides and no exterior storage. Highland cows are literally roaming around the building. Slightly lifting the structure above the surrounding landscape and parking lot emphasizes its autonomy. The dark brick façade connects head and body of the building, which contains shops, supermarket, restaurant and 58 private and rental apartments. Windows and exterior spaces are carved out of the powerful main volumes by means of sharp incisions and deep cavities.
