New building for the Vijverberg Arnhem training college
The new building for the Vijverberg training college in Arnhem presented Royal Haskoning Architects with the opportunity to create an inviting and challenging learning environment which the students can be proud of.
The project’s greatest challenge was integrating a slope from the existing pedestrian walkway in the building and creating a wall in keeping with the urban line of the Burgemeester Matsersingel. The architecture is a reply to the rigid architecture of the surrounding offices. The cheerful patio gable differentiates itself from the rest and creates a transition between inside and outside. The school want the outside world to see what it does. This is reflected in the design in the transparency and large outward facing display windows where the training companies present themselves.
