Jubilee bridge Nijmegen
a new icon for the oldest city in the Netherlands
On the occasion of our 125th anniversary we have offered a design for a new bridge on the river Waal as a present to the city of Nijmegen. The second Citybridge will become a new icon for the oldest city in the Netherlands. The new bridge will signify the western entry to the city, similar to the way the old Waalbridge identifies the eastern part. A slender arc spans the main river from the side of the old city and skims across the extended wetlands north of the river. The modest and elegant design fits seamlessly into the urban and fluvial environment of Nijmegen and the Waal.
