Dutch Cocoa, Haarlem
Dutch cocoa was originally located in the centre of Haarlem but was asked by the Municipality of to vacate the premises in order for the city to reclaim it as innercity territory. After the relocation they will be located in the ‘Westerlijk Havengebied’ in Amsterdam.
Dutch cocoa produces ingredients for chocolat.
The cocoa beans are compressed into a paste after which a residue of cocoa powder remains.
This production process dictated the design of the new factory. The impact of the volume of the building is minimalised by the use of different shades of gray in the material of the façade. It adds a singular entity to the exsisting surroundings.
