2 bridges in “Sun City” Heerhugowaard

The city of Heerhugowaard is realising 2 new bridges in “Sun City”, an ambitious scheme for an area in which there will be coordinated development of urban design, architecture and environmental aspects. The area covered by the plan is divided into three zones which have much in common, yet at the same time preserve their own architectural identity. The different identities are reflected in the design principles for the two bridges. An important feature of each of these bridges is diversity in form and use of materials, so that they blend naturally into their surroundings. In order to give the designs strong ties to their locations we have integrated the connective function of the three bridges into the landscape in a natural flowing fashion.
